Wheat and Fruit Bread Recipe

 

Ingredients
1 and ˝ cups of varied fruit
˝ cup of raisins
1 cup of all bran
˝ cup of brown sugar
1 and ˝ cup of milk
1 and ˝ cup of whole-wheat flour
Peeled whole almonds to decorate
  • Preparation time: 15 minutes plus 15 minutes soaking
  • Baking time: 50 minutes

Preparation

  1. Grease a rectangular 23 by 13 by 7 centimeters baking mold with melted butter or oil. Cover the base of the mold with wax paper. In a big bowl mix the fruit, the raisins, the all bran, the sugar and the milk; stir well. Allow the mixture to sit soaking for 15 minutes at least.
  2. Preheat the oven at a moderate temperature of 180 degrees C. Add in the sifted flour to the mixture and stir well. Use a spoon to put the mixture into the mold and smoothen out the surface. Decorate the cake with the almonds. Bake for 50 minutes, or when poking with a wooden pick it in the middle, it comes out clean. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Then flip the cake over a metal rack and allow it to cool. Serve it on its own or in slices with butter or toast.
