Sweet Marjoram in Medicinal Herbs

Curative properties

Arteriosclerosis: drink the infusion of 20g of leaves in a liter of water, 2 cups a day.

Asthma: do inhalations from the plant.

Sedative: drink the infusion of 2g of dry leaves in a cup of water.

Colic: drink 1 to 5 cups of the infusion of 3g of flowers and dry leaves in a liter of water.

Cuts and scrapes: wash with the brew. 

Digestive: drink 1 to 5 cups of the infusion of 35g of flowers and dry leaves in a liter of water.

Headache: drink 1 to 5 cups of the infusion of 35g of flowers and dry leaves in a liter of water.

Furuncles: wash with the brew.

Gases: drink the infusion.

Inflammations: apply a cataplasm over the affected area.

Insomnia: drink the infusion of 2g of dry flowers in a cup of water.

Laryngitis: do gargles with the juice.

Bruises: apply a cataplasm of dry leaves with honey.

Menstrual problems: provokes menstruation.  Drink the infusion.

Burns: wash with the brew.

Rheumatism: do frictions with the ointment.  Once finished, cover the affected area with a wool cloth.  If not, apply a cataplasm with the brew of 60g of leaves per liter of water.

Sudorific: drink 2 to 3 cups of hot infusion before going to sleep.

Preparation 

Cataplasm: grind 40 to 50g of leaves and soak in hot water until forming a paste. Place them in any natural porous fiber and use as bandage over affected area until discomfort diminishes. Also apply directly over affected area covering the paste with a hot towel.

Brew: boil in low temperature 60g of leaves in a liter of water.  Let stand for a few minutes.

Cream and ointments: melt one kilogram of lard in a double sauce pan.  Add 200g of dry crumbled flowers and stir for half an hour. Remove from heat and let stand. The next day, heat it up again in a double sauce pan for half an hour more.  While hot, strain and store in airtight containers.

Infusion: add 10g of dry flowers to a cup of hot boiling water.  Let stand for 10 minutes. 

Inhalations: boil and add the plant.  Absorb the steam directly from the pot, covering head with a towel and closing eyes and mouth.  You can also use a paper or carton cone that adapts mouth and nose.

Juice: crush the plant with a few drops of water.  Strain, place in gauze, squeeze and strain the loose juice.  You can diluted with water and add honey.

Precaution
In case of pregnancy or nursing, do not use without medical supervision.  Can cause allergies, especially in children.  If used for more than 2 weeks, it can produce headaches and somnolence.
