Spearmint in Medicinal Herbs

Curative properties 

Colic: very effective in children.  Drink the infusion.

Diarrhea: drink the infusion.

Digestive: drink the infusion.

Headache: apply a cataplasm over affected area.

Pharyngitis: make gargles with the infusion.

Fever: drink the infusion.

Gases: drink the infusion.

Blows: apply a fresh leaf cataplasm.

Hemorrhoids: wet cotton in the tincture and apply over affected area.

Mouth inflammation: make gargles with the infusion.

Worms and intestinal parasites: drink the juice from the grinded leaves.

Nauseas and vomit: boil and drink the infusion.

Neuralgia: drink the infusion or apply compresses over the affected area.

Bites: apply a cataplasm from fresh leaves.

Flu: drink the infusion.

Rheumatism: drink the infusion or apply compresses.

Preparation 

Cataplasm: grind fresh plants until transforming it into powder and soak in hot water or grind the fresh plant until a paste is formed.   Place them in any natural porous fiber and use as bandage over affected area until discomfort diminishes. Also apply directly over affected area covering the paste with a hot towel.

Compresses: submerge any natural porous fiber in the infusion and place it over the affected area until discomfort diminishes.  Can also be used cold.

Infusion: add a spurt of boiling water in a portion of 10 to 20 leaves.  You can also heat up a liter of water and once it has boiled, add 80g of leaves and remove from heat.  Cover the container and let stand 5 to 10 minutes.  Strain and serve.  Drink 3 times a day.

Juice: crush the plant with a few drops of water.  Place it in gauze, squeeze and strain the loose juice.  Drink fasting for 4 consecutive days.  In children; take one teaspoon; adults, one spoonful.

Tincture: fill a small bottle with the herb and add gin.  Macerate for 7 days.  Shake the bottle every day.  Filter and store it preferably in an dark airtight bottle.  Take 5 to 10 spoonfuls, 3 times a day.

Precaution
In case of pregnancy, do not use without medical supervision.  Do not use while nursing or in children.  Do not boil the plant.  Do not use for more than 4 days.
