Orange & Chocolate Pie Recipe
Ingredients of Recipe 375 grams of crumble dough 125 grams of bitter chocolate (in bar)
Orange Filling for Pie 3 egg yokes 2 tablespoon of sugar 1¼ cups of boiling milk 1 tablespoon of orange peel (finely grated) 2 teaspoon of orange liquor 1½ teaspoons of Jell-O powder, dissolved in 4 tablespoons of water ¼ of a cup, of thick whipped cream
Preparation of Dessert
- Spread the crumble dough and cover the base of 6 pie molds (10 cm. diameter). Cover the dough with paper towels and beans; bake for 8 minutes before withdrawing the paper and beans, and then bake for another 10 minutes, or until the dough turns brown. Take out and let it cool off completely. Spread the melted chocolate on the cold crusts.
- Filling: Place the egg yokes and sugar on the flame in a double boiler pot, and whip till creamy. Withdraw form the fire and while whipping add the milk little, by little. Empty this mixture into a thick pot, and cook on a low flame. Stir it as if drawing an 8, till it thickens and covers the back side of the wooden spoon. Then withdraw from the fire and place the pot on top of ice until it cools off.
- Add the grated orange peels, orange liquor, and the dissolved Jell-O to it and mix well, and then fill the pie crusts with it. Refrigerate until it curdles.
