Anemia: drink the infusion or eat as vegetable in salads.
Hair loss: massage scalp with the brew.
Diabetes: drink the infusion.
Diarrhea: drink the infusion.
Digestive: drink the infusion.
Diuretic: drink the brew.
Eczemas: wash with the tincture.
Pharyngitis: do gargles with the juice.
Fever: drink the infusion or shake a handful of fresh leaves or the plant recently ripped over the affected area.
Hemorrhages: shake a handful of fresh leaves or the plants recently ripped over the affected area or apply a cataplasm. If not, drink the infusion. As juice, drink 100 to 125g daily divided in 3 doses.
Mouth inflammation: do gargles with the juice.
Nursing: drink the infusion.
Blood cleanliness: drink the infusion.
Soriasis: drink the infusion or apply nettle cream.
Burns: wash with the infusion or the brew.
Rheumatism: drink the infusion or the brew or shake a handful of fresh leaves or the plant recently ripped over the affected area or apply a cataplasm. As juice, drink 100 to 125g daily divided in 3 doses.
Preparation
Cataplasm:grind dry plants until transforming it into powder and soak in hot water or grind the fresh plant until forming a paste. Place them in any natural porous fiber and use as bandage over affected area until discomfort diminishes. Also apply directly over affected area covering the paste with a hot towel.
Brew, for drinking: boil in low temperature 50g of leaves or roots in one liter of water for 3 minutes. Let stand for a few minutes and strain. For massages: boil 150g of leaves and roots in half a liter of water for 5 to 10 minutes. Let stand and strain.
Creams and ointments: heat in low temperature for one hour, 85g of herb in powder, 28g of bee wax and 200g of cocoa fat or vegetal fat. Remove from heat. Strain and refrigerate until it becomes firm. For tinctures, add 10 parts of Vaseline or fat for one of tincture.
Infusion: add 50g of flowers to a liter of boiling water. Remove immediately from heat and let stand for 20 minutes. Strain and serve.
Juice: crush the tender leaves or the whole plant with a few drops of water. Place in gauze, squeeze and strain the loose juice.
Syrup: prepare the brew and filter. Add double its weight in sugar and store in a closed container. Shake the container every day until the sugar is dissolved completely.
Tincture: submerge 20g of leaves or roots in one liter of alcohol of 60º, 65º, 70 or 95º. Seal and macerate between 8 to 15 days. Shake the container every day. Filter and store in an airtight dark bottle. Serve with water. For a less concentrated product, add the same amount of water to the alcohol.
Precaution
Do not use in case of pregnancy or nursing. With skin contact, can cause irritation. Do not use the leaves in case of cardiac or renal insufficiency and gastritis. Due to it’s high content of nitrates, especially children must not eat it in excess.
