Marzipan Dolls

Start by shaping the body. For this you must take a portion of the dough and knead it with your hands to form a roll with one side a little thinner. Place it on a piece of Styrofoam with the thicker side as a base. Mark the parts of the clothes. You can cut the base in the middle to make the legs of the pants, and place it on Styrofoam in a sitting or standing position with a stick on each leg to keep them up.

With a toothpick hold the head. Mold the head with a dyed paste a skin color, making a ball. Press the half of the head to separate the forehead from the cheeks.

Stick it into the toothpick which should be previously dampened with un- beat egg white to stick both parts. Make the mouth and holes for the eyes, the eyes can be done with marzipan or plastic doll eyes. With a ball make the nose of marzipan which is placed between the eyes

To make the ears make two lateral holes and put egg white to stick two balls which should be pressed for them to get the ear shapes. Make another roll to make the arms and place them whole on top of the body, or cut in two and stick them to the sides of the body with egg white. With two skin-colored balls make the hands and stick them to the arms. With a ball cut in half we make the shoes. Once it is all dry, with the glaze make the hair and other details.

Note The mouth, eyes and nose can be painted with a thin brush and food coloring. But it needs a lot of practice.

Angels and altar boys
The altar boys or angels are done very easily with a cone as a body and a ball for the head (this can be shaped in a special mold). Cover the body with a white tunic. Stick the head to the body. Paint the face and hair; the hair can also be done with glaze. Make two cones for the sleeves and make a hole on the thicker side of the cone. Stick the cone to the body. Make the hands and stick them into the sleeves. Add the necessary accessories (wings, songbooks, candles, etc.).

More stylish dolls
To make a more stylish doll, make a ball and mold the head with it, shape the face with a special mold. Add a small cylinder of dough to make the neck. Place a stick through the neck to place it to the body. Let it dry resting on Styrofoam. Paint the facial details and make the hair with glaze in a coned paper. Make a carrot shaped marzipan figure for the body with your hands. Cut the tip in half to make the legs and make a proportional cut on the sides of the thicker part for the arms. Give shape to the arms and legs with your hands. Bend the arms for the elbows and the legs from behind to make the knees. Place a stick on one or two legs to have it standing on the Styrofoam. Place the head on top of the body and stick it with egg whites. Let it dry. Dress it as you wish.

Note

  • All the pieces can be shaped with the plain dough and later painted with a brush.
  • Remember to dampen everything with the egg white that shouldn’t be beat, using a brush to join all the parts together.
  • Use the egg white on all the body to give it an extra shine.
