Lemon Balm in Medicinal Herbs

Increase appetite: drink one cup of wine with meals.

Sedative: drink the infusion of 2 teaspoons of leaves and stems per cup.  Besides, you can take the infusion of one spoonful of lemon balm, one of valerian and one of lime flower per cup of water, once a day.  Can also take herbal baths.

Colic: drink the infusion after meals.  You can add mint.  Also, drink one cup of wine with meals.

Cuts and scrapes: apply a cataplasm over the affected area.

Digestive: drink the infusion after each meal.  You can add mint.

Headache: massage with the tincture.

Toothache: do gargles with the infusion.

Menstrual pain: drink the infusion.

Gases: drink the infusion.  You can add mint.

Blows: apply a cataplasm or compress over the affected area. Also, massage with the fresh plant or with the tincture.

Insomnia: drink the infusion of 2 teaspoons of leaves and stems per cup.  Besides, you can take the infusion of one spoonful of lemon balm, one spoonful of valerian and one spoonful of lime flowers per cup, once a day.  Also you can take herbal baths.

Bruises: apply a cataplasm over the affected area.

Neuralgic: massage with the tincture.

Palpitations: drink the infusion.

Menstrual problems: regulates menstruation flow.  Drink the infusion.

Rheumatism: apply compresses over the affected area or massage with the fresh plant or tincture.

Preparation

Herbal baths: add to bath 60 to 80g of leaves per liter of water.

Cataplasm: crush dry plants until leaves until transforming into powder and soak in hot water or grind fresh plants to form a paste.   Place it in any natural porous fiber and use as bandage over affected area until discomfort diminishes.  Also apply directly over affected area covering the paste with a hot towel.

Compresses: submerge any natural porous fiber in the infusion and place it over the affected area until discomfort diminishes.  Can also be used cold.

Infusion: add 30 to 40g of flowers or 5g of leaves and stems to one liter of water. Remove immediately from heat.  Let stand for 10 minutes, strain and serve.

Tincture: macerate 50g of dry flowers in 100g of alcohol of 60º for 24 hours. Distill to obtain 50g of the product.

Wine: macerate 50 to 80g of the plant in a liter of white wine for 17 days.  Shake the container every day.  Filter and store it.

Precaution
Do not use essential oil of the plant during pregnancy or nursing.  To drink the infusion or other preparations while pregnant, consult with doctor.
