Hygienic Quality

 

The technical norms establish requirements that fix the levels of quality and security of the products. The following are some requirements that must be done, however these may vary from country to country so you will want to check what the requirements are in your country.

Marshmallows
Marshmallows have a plastic consistency, are formed by sugar, glucose, jello and other substances and allowed additives. They must follow the following requirements:

  • Not contain any harmful microorganisms or decomposing causes in the product.
  • Use authorized preservatives
  • Maximum humidity of 20%
  • Saccharose content of 68%
  • Litigating or agglutinating substances: maximum 4% of the total weight

Gummies
Gummies are made out of a mixture of jellos, cornstarch, sugar and other allowed substances and additives. They must go along with the following requirements:

  • Not have any harmful microorganisms and decomposing causes in the product
  • Not contain any substances that are not permitted or contaminating agents
  • Use only authorized preservatives
  • Maximum humidity of 15%
  • Saccharose content of 68%
  • Litigating or agglutinating substances: maximum 4% of the total weight
