Hot Chocolate Drinks
Hot chocolate served in big mugs, is still the most common breakfast drink for children in most of the countries in continental Europe, whereas in the United Kingdom it is a drink that is often times served to drink at night. Chocolate made to drink is the fastest way to prepare hot chocolate, but the cocoa has the advantage that it contains less fat and can be sweetened to ones own taste. Besides serving it in this way, there are many simple ways and variations to serving hot chocolate:
Spiced Chocolate: Prepare the chocolate the normal way but when heating the milk, add in one-fourth teaspoon of ground cinnamon and a pinch of hazel nut and or pepper in each mug.
Chocolate Cream: Right before serving the hot chocolate, place a spoonful of whipped cream in each mug and add a bit of chocolate powder, cinnamon or hazel nut on the top.
Chocolate And Rum: This drink is perfect for a cold wintry day and it is very popular for skiers. Prepare the hot chocolate as usual and add a serving of black rum in it and mix it. You can put some whipped cream on the top if you wish as well.
Happy Marriage: This is a favorite in Germany and Switzerland. Use the same amount of strong hot black coffee, and hot chocolate, and then add in a little rum or brandy if you like.
Hot Chocolate Deluxe: Instead of using cocoa or chocolate to drink, make the hot chocolate by using twenty-five grams of pure chocolate or bitter good quality chocolate for each cup of hot chocolate. Mix it with a cinnamon stick until the chocolate dissolves and then serve it in a mug, then add in the cinnamon stick and serve it with a big of cocoa powder on the top.
Spanish Hot Chocolate: Instead of using cocoa or chocolate to drink, make the hot chocolate by using twenty-five grams of pure chocolate or bitter good quality chocolate and melt it. Once the chocolate has melted, take it off the stove and beat it with a raw egg yolk.
