Ham and Chicken Pie Recipe
Ingredients 2 cup flour 180 gr butter 1/3 cup cold water 1 egg
Filling 1 kg ground chicken meat 1 tsp assorted herbs 2 eggs 3 onions minced finely 2 tbsp fresh minced parsley 2 tsp French mustard 1/3 cup milk cream Salt and pepper 200 gr smoked ham in slices
Preparation Preheat the oven to 180C. Using an electric beater, mix the flour and butter for 20 seconds or until it forms a smooth mix. Using 2/3 of the dough roll it out and cover a 20 cm pan leaving the ends sticking out, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until needed. Form a thin circle with the remaining dough wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate.
Filling Preparation
- Place the chicken, herbs, eggs, onion, parsley, milk cream, salt and pepper in a mixing bowl, mix well using a wooden spoon; then separate in three even portions.
- Place a layer over the dough in the pan and smoothen the surface. Cover with half the ham and with another layer of chicken, place another layer of ham and finish off by covering it with the last portion of chicken.
- Using a brush, cover the inner side of the dough, stretch out the remaining dough and place it over the pan and press it down securing them together, cut off any remaining dough. Using your fingers or a fork make decorative designs. Decorate the surface with the remaining dough. Varnish the pie crust with the eggs and bake for 1 hour or until it looks toasty. Serve warm or at room temperature.
