Glazed Leaves and Flowers

Preparing a consistent, fresh and spatula stirred glaze and with the help of different filter tips we can prepare a wide range of leaves and flowers, from the simplest ones to ones that need a little more practice, which will be useful  as a complement in the decoration of a cake. As always we will work on a lamina and as we advance we will add nails and flower decorators which are of plastic or steel of diverse shapes which are easy to buy.

Glazed leaves
To make leaves we can put the glaze into the decorating sleeve with a filter tip. There are a wide variety of filter tips which can be used to make the leaves of different sizes: small (for example #56), medium (#86), and big (#411).

What’s the technique for making leaves?
With whatever element that you use, either the decorating sleeve or the coned paper the movement is the same.

Place the tip of the filter tip leaning over the lamina, put pressure and while you move it towards you loosen the pressure until you make the size of the leaf you desire, cut it.

Once you’ve practiced try to make a zigzagging movement while moving it towards you.

Once we notice that the leaves come out perfect let them dry on the lamina.

Once they are dry you can remove them easily from the lamina easily and can be stored in a glass container with a lid or in hermetic plastic containers.

To make longer leaves place a long wire that is wrapped with green on the inside of the tip. Press the decorating sleeve and make the long leaf holding the other extreme with the wire with your other hand.

Glazed pine trees
To make these fun pine trees we use a consistent green colored glaze and a filter tip # 86, although one of the applications was done with a wicker filter tip #74.

Start by a cone shaped marzipan or use an ice cream cone that is paired by cutting with scissors. There are some pine shaped holders that we can use to rest the cones while making the pine trees.

You can also rest the cones on bottle tops to make it easier.

Start by making the leaves at the bottom of the cone.

Continue always around and upwards with other rows of leaves alternating them with the bottom ones. Finish them with a pine tip.

Palm trees
Use a green colored royal glaze and a filter tip for big leaves. Make a row of leaves in a downward direction on top of a long pretzel stick of about 5 cm from the top. With a yellow glaze and a filter tip #30 make a banana bunch making long dots one next to the other. Continue making rows of leaves going towards the tip. Make another banana bunch wherever you prefer.
