Ingredients
90 grams of butter
60 grams of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 egg
90 grams of prepared flour
90 grams of whole wheat flour
125 grams of butter
250 grams of brown sugar
180 ml of milk cream
3 egg yolks
250 grams of whipped cream, for serving
Caramel shavings, for serving
Preparation
- Mix the butter and the sugar together. Add in the vanilla extract and the egg and mix well. Sieve the flour and add it to the mixture. Place the obtained dough over a floured surface and knead it a little. Then wrap it in thin plastic and put it in the refrigerator for one hour.
- Grease a 20-centimeter baking pan. Put the dough over the floured surface and then on the baking pan. Pinch the base of the dough with a fork and pinch the edges to decorate. Bake at a high temperature (200 degrees) for 15 minutes and then lower the temperature down to 180 degrees, then allow it to bake for another 5 minutes until it browns slightly. Let it sit and cool.
- Melt the butter in a pot and add in the brown sugar stirring constantly so it dissolves. Allow this to boil for another three minutes after it has dissolved. Take it off the heat and allow it to sit for a minute. Add in the milk cream and the egg yolks. Cook over low heat while constantly stirring until the mixture thickens. Fill the pie with the caramel and garnish it with the whipped cream. Decorate with the caramel shavings.
