Chocolate Flan
Ingredients ¼ liter of milk 375 grams of liquid cream 150 grams of chocolate in bar 5 egg yolks 3 tablespoons of sugar 2 tablespoons of chocolate shavings For the baking tray: butter
- Baking time: 1 hour
- Cooling time: 3 hours at least
Preparation
- Heat the milk along with 250 grams of liquid cream. Chop the chocolate bar and add it into the hot milk. Stir until the chocolate melts. Then remove it from the heat.
- Mix the egg yolks and the sugar in the blender until you obtain a creamy consistency.
- Add the chocolate to the cream very carefully mixing constantly. Butter 4 small baking molds and fill them with the chocolate.
- Cover the bottom of a pot with a clean dishcloth and place the molds over it. Then fill the pot with hot water until you cover two thirds of the molds.
- Cover the pot with another dishcloth and place if over the heat. Cook the flan for 30 minutes over low heat. It is very important that the water does not boil. Once they have cooked, the molds will need to be placed in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
- In order to take the flan out of the molds, use a butter knife to scrape along the edges of the molds and the flan. Place the flan over a serving dish or dessert dish.
- Garnish the flan with the rest of the whipped cream and spread some grated chocolate shavings over it.
