Chocolate Cake
Ingredients 100 grams of bitter chocolate bar 4 eggs 120 grams of confectioner’s sugar 100 grams of softened butter 50 grams of chopped almonds 50 grams of orange jam 100 grams of chocolate covering For the baking tray: butter
- Preparation time: 40 minutes
- Baking time: 70 to 80 minutes
Preparation
- Preheat the oven at 175 degrees Celsius.
- Chop or break up the chocolate bar and place it inside a metal recipient. Double boil it and melt it.
- In the meantime, crack the eggs and separate the yolks from the whites. Keep the egg whites inside a bowl in the refrigerator. Beat the egg yolks with the confectioner’s sugar until you obtain a light creamy consistency.
- Mix the butter with the melted chocolate. Add in the light cream and the ground almonds. Continue stirring until you obtain a uniform pasty mixture.
- Beat the egg whites until they become stiff and them fold it into the chocolate.
- Butter the baking tray and fill it up with the chocolate mixture. Flatten the surface out. Place the baking tray on the middle part of the oven for 10 minutes. Lower the oven temperature to 150 degrees Celsius and allow the cake to bake for another 60 to 70 minutes. Once done, take the baking tray out of the oven and let it cool.
- Heat the orange jam in a small pot. Spread it over the surface of the cake.
- Melt the chocolate covering by double boiling it and then spread it over the jam with a knife. Keep the cake in a fresh place until serving it.
