Chamomile in Medicinal Herbs

 

Curative properties

Acne: apply the brew, oil, ointment or steam bath over affected area.

Bile affections: drink the infusion of 15 to 20g from the plant in a liter of water.

Hepatic affections: drink the infusion of 15 to 20g from the plant in a liter of water.

Allergies: drink the infusion.

Asthma: drink the infusion.

Sedative: drink the infusion from the stems and leaves.  Or drink a cup of wine after meals.

Scars: apply a dry leaf cataplasm or steam bath over the affected area for 5 to 10 minutes.

Colic: drink one cup of the infusion, 3 to 4 times a day or steam baths over the affected area for 5 to 10 minutes.

Conjunctivitis: wash the eyes with the chamomile infusion in distilled water.

Cuts and scrapes: apply the brew, oil, ointment or steam bath over the affected area.

Digestive: drink a hot cup of infusion of 20g of the plant per liter of water after meals. You can also drink the wine after meals.

Headache: drink the infusion of 15 to 25g of the plant per liter of water.

Menstrual pain: drink the chamomile infusion or one spoonful of chamomile and one of lemon balm in a cup of water.  Besides, do steam baths over the area for 5 to 10 minutes.

Pharyngitis: do gargles with the infusion.

Gases: drink one cup of the infusion 3 to 4 times a day.  You can also drink the infusion of one spoonful of anise, fennel and chamomile in equal parts in a cup of water.

Gastritis: drink the infusion of 15g per liter of water.

Hemorrhoids: apply the ointment, oil or baths over the affected area for 15 minutes, 3 to 4 times a day.

Mouth inflammation: do gargles with the infusion.

Skin inflammation: apply compresses or wash affected area with the infusion.

Otitis: add eardrops from the oil. 

Menstrual problems: helps promotes menstruation.  Drink the infusion of one spoonful of chamomile and one of lemon balm in a cup of water, 3 times a day.

Burns: apply ointment or oil over affected area.

Rheumatism: massage with oil.

Preparation

Oil: macerate several chamomile plants covered with almond oil, between 15 to 20 days. Shake the container every day. You can also heat it up in a double sauce pan during 3 hours, 10g of chamomile in 100g of olive oil.  Filter and store it.

Cataplasm: grind 5 to 7g of dry flowers and soak in hot water or boil the whole plant in 300ml of water to form a paste.    Place them in any natural porous fiber and use as bandage over affected area until discomfort diminishes. Also apply directly over affected area covering the paste with a hot towel.

Brew: boil in low temperature 5 to 7g of leaves in 300ml of water for 5 minutes. Let stand for a few minutes and strain.

Compresses: submerge any natural porous fiber in the infusion and place it over the affected area until discomfort diminishes.  Can also be used cold.

Cream and ointment: heat in low temperature for several hours 250g of olive oil and almonds, 2 fistful of chamomile and 50g of virgin wax.  Let stand all night and heat up the next day.  Filter and let cool.

Infusion: add 2 spoonful of herb in a cup of boiling water.  Let stand for 10 minutes.

Wine: macerate15g of flowers in a liter of white wine for 15 days.  Filter and store it.

Precaution
In case of pregnancy or nursing, do not use without medical supervision.  Do not use everyday for a very long period.  Can cause allergies, dizziness, conjunctivitis, nauseas, cough, and headache, among others.  Do not use while using other sedatives or alcohol.  Neither with medicines or supplements that contain iron since it can cause problems to absorb the mineral.
