- Preparation time: 15 minutes
- Baking time: 40 minutes
Preparation
- Preheat the oven at a moderate temperature of 180 degrees C. Grease a round deep 20 centimeter baking mold with melted butter or oil. Cover the base and the walls of the baking dish with wax paper.
- Put 185 grams of the sugar, the sour cream, the egg and the vanilla essence in a small bowl and beat it for 2 minutes. Sift the flour, and the baking soda and ½ teaspoon of cardamom. Use a spoon to put this mixture into the previous mixture. Beat all of the ingredients with an electric mixer on low until it has all mixed well. Then turn the mixer up a notch and continue beating it for another minute.
- Use a spoon to put the cake dough in the mold and smoothen out the surface with a spatula. Mix the rest of the nuts and the sugar and the cardamom in a small bowl. Then cover the cake with this mixture uniformly. Very carefully use a butter knife to spread the nut mixture into a little of the dough on the surface of the cake. Bake for 40 minutes or until when poking a wooden poker in the center of the cake it comes out clean. Let it sit for 5 minutes once done. Then put it over a metal rack and allow it to cool.
