Cake Decorating with Exotic Flowers

Calita
Make a small sausage shape with yellow paste of 3cm in length and let it dry. Paint it with Arabic glue and sprinkle with yellow pollen (semolina, corn flour or a yellow colored powder jell-o). Stretch the white paste and cut a large petal. Trim the sides with a bobbin and pinch the tip. Roll it around the yellow tube dampening it with Arabic glue.

Orange mock

  1. This is done the same way as mentioned previously with the following exceptions: the chalice cutter must be of four points; it takes only four white petals stuck on each leaf on top of each chalice and not in the middle. Place fewer pistils than the previous flower. Leave the flowers white.
  2. Another way of making the chalice with this flower is by making a small green cone; hollow it, soften the sides and cut it in four points. Introduce a headless pistil or wire. Above this, form the flower as mentioned before.

Jacinth
Form a paste cone and hollow it with a decorating stick. Put cornstarch on your fingers, smoothen the sides and cut them into 6 petals with pointed scissors. Press each petal with your fingers to soften them and cut with curved scissors to give the tips shape. Turn the flower over and with a bobbin soften and curve each petal from the center to the sides. Introduce a folded tip wire which should be dampened with Arabic glue. Let it dry. Make the buds by sticking the ball around the wire with Arabic glue and tightening its sides a little. Let it dry.

Chinese flower

  1. To make the chalice, shape a piece of green paste into a cone; squash the base; place a chalice cutter and cut. Make a hook with a piece of wire and place it into the chalice, gluing it with Arabic glue.
  2. Stretch the white glue paste and cut five petals with a heart shaped cutter. Trim them and give them shape with a bobbin in the palm of your hand.
  3. Next mark the central nerve from the tip to the base. Glue the petals to the chalice with Arabic glue placing them slightly superimposed between the sepals. Let them dry. Next, draw a central nerve a purple color with a line that expands in the base of the petal. Turn the flower around and paint with the same much diluted color. Place a little green glaze in the center of the flower and insert 8 short red stamens, which will be dampened in Arabic glue and are passed through the “yellow pollen” (semolina, corn flour or a yellow colored powder jell-o).

Wild lily

  1. Shape a piece of lilac colored paste into a small sausage form. Stretch it with a roller, first to one side and then to the other, leaving a thick part at the base. Cut a segment of the lower part. Trim the sides with a bobbin flip it over onto a piece of foamy glue and mark a central vein from the tip to the base. Curve the tips.
  2. Cut a piece of wire and place it in the thick part of the previously prepared piece. Curve the segment and fold the tip towards you. Let it dry. Make two more equal pieces and join them with florist ribbons.
  3. Make a white sausage paste and cut a piece bigger than the previous one, the same way as for the small ones but with another mold. Trim the sides with a bobbin and mark the parallel nerves in the top surface. Roll the sides slightly. Insert a piece of wire through the thick part. Curve the lower 15mm of the segment backwards and let them dry. Make two more equal segments.
  4. Repeat the previous steps using a bigger mold. Once all the segments are dry, paint small cut lines brown in the lower parts of the smaller white segments. Paint the lower parts of the bigger segments yellow while they are still fresh. Sprinkle with “yellow pollen” (semolina, corn flour or a yellow colored powder jell-o). join the three smaller white segments with a little space between them around the wire, under the lilac colored segments. Follow with the bigger white segments, filling the free spaces.

Azalea
Cut five petals and trim the sides with a bobbin. Mark the central nerve. Place four of them in a spiral form onto a concave surface covered with a piece of aluminum foil. The fifth petal is placed at the length of the four to close the circle. Place many brown tipped stamens and a stigma that carries a ball of green paste on the tip. Let it dry. Form a chalice of five sepals; place a wire into it and glue it to the base of the flower. Let it dry. With a thin brush make small marks of a darker tone on the fifth petal and a few on the two bordering petals. You can also shape this flower with a paste cone. Trim the sides with your fingers and cut with a 5 petal cutter of 4.5cm in diameter. Hollow it, trim it and give it a lace trim to each petal with a decorating stick.
