Brazilian Nut Tart Recipe
Ingredients: 2 cups of sugar 1 cup of butter 1 cup of milk 3 cups of flour 2 cups of grated nuts 6 egg whites 2tsps of baking soda Butter Sugar
Preparation: The baking soda is mixed with ½ cup of warm milk. Work on the butter and sugar on the side to make a white and liquid cream. Add ½ cup of milk, a few drops of lemon, flour and nuts to the cream. Stir it all very well. Beat the egg whites till stiff and add them to the mix stir it carefully, lifting the mix without working on it too much. Finally add the baking soda and milk mix. Butter a round mold with tall borders making sure it is all well buttered. Add the mix making sure that you don’t fill the mold to the borders because it grows when baked. Place in the oven at 180 degrees and cook for 40 minutes. To make sure that the tart is ready, poke the center of the tart with a fine tip knife or with a needle to make sure it comes out dry. Let the tart cool off, empty the mold on a tray and sprinkle the sugar on the surface.
