Borage in Medicinal Herbs

Curative properties

Aphthas or mouth sores: do gargles with the plants brew. Add honey.

Bronchitis: boil and drink 3 cups of the brew of 10g of leaves in one liter of water. Sweeten with honey.

Diuretic: boil and drink the leaf brew or the infusion of one teaspoon of plant per cup of water.

Expectorant: as leaf infusion, boil and drink one hot cup 3 times a day.  As brew, drink 3 to 4 times a day.

Boil: apply a warm leaf cataplasm on the affected area.

Flu: boil and drink the infusion, 3 to 5 cups a day.

Worms and intestinal parasites: boil and drink as juice.

Bad circulation: boil and drink the brew, 3 to 4 cups a day.

Bites: apply a warm leaf cataplasm on the affected area.

Rheumatism:drink 3 cups daily, boiling 10g of leaves in one liter of water. Sweeten with honey.

Sudorific: drink at night 1 cup of the infusion of 28g of flowers in half a liter of water.

Preparation
Unless it indicates contrary, leaves should be used fresh. 

Cataplasm: grind fresh leaves until forming a paste.  Place a piece of clean fabric of any natural porous fiber and use it as bandage on the afflicted area until discomfort diminishes.  Also apply directly over affected area covering paste with a hot towel.

Brew: boil 3 tablespoons of plant in one liter of water.  Turn off heat, let stand for a few minutes and strain.

Infusion: add 10g of leaves and stems to a liter of newly boiled water, away from heat. Let it stand for 30 minutes, strain and serve.

Juice: crush the plant with a few drops of water.  Place it in gauze, squeeze it and strain loose juice.  Take it in spoonfuls diluted with water.

Precaution
In case of pregnancy or nursing, do not use without medical supervision.  Consumed in excess can produce tachycardia.  Persons, who suffer from epilepsy or schizophrenia, must take it with precaution.  Can cause irritation or liver damage.
