Curative properties
- Bronchitis: helps as an expectorant and relieves cough. Drink the infusion of 15g per liter of water, one cup, 3 times a day.
- Scars: clean the affected area 2 to 3 times a day with the brew from 10g of leaves in one liter of water boiled for 5 minutes.
- Diuretic: drink 3 cups a day boiling 4 leaves in a liter of water during 15 minutes.
- Headaches: apply a cataplasm from leaves in forehead and temples, renewing every six hours.
- Eruptions and eczemas: apply infusion over affected area.
- Hepatitis: boil and drink the infusion of 2 sprouts in one cup of water, 3 times a day for 7 days.
- Prostrate inflammation: boil and drink the leaf infusion.
- Vaginal inflammation: do a vaginal wash with the maceration from the leaves. Prepare it, leave it out and wash again the next day.
- Laxative: as if you were drinking water, drink the infusion of 15g of seeds in 1 liter of water, for 15 minutes.
- Burns: apply the seed ointment in a local way. If not, clean the affected area with the brew. Then apply a paste of ground seeds and fruit pulp. Renew every four hours. You can also apply the pulp from the leaves directly over the skin to avoid formation of blisters.
Preparation
- Cataplasm: grind fresh or dry leaves and dip them in warm water until forming a paste. Place it in a piece of clean fabric of any natural porous fiber and use it as bandage over the affected area until it stops bothering. Also apply directly over the affected area covering the paste with a hot towel.
- Brew: add leaves in a pot with water and boil in slow heat between 15 to 30 minutes. Turn it off, let stand and strain. Serve warm.
- Infusion: put 1 or 2g of seeds in a cup. Add hot water. Let stand for a few minutes and drink.
- Macerate: place 10 crushed leaves in one liter of cold water. Let it rest for a period of 12 to 24 hours in summer and up to 48 hours in winter.
- Ointment: fry the seed pulp in oil or other grease, 1 part of seeds for four parts of oil. Remove from heat. Strain and refrigerate until it becomes firm.

In case of pregnancy or nursing, do not use without medical supervision.
