American Apple Pie
Ingredients Pie Crust 300 gr flour 80 gr butter 1 tbspn salt 80 ml water
Filling 6 green apples 1 egg 100 gr brown sugar 100 gr white sugar 45 gr flour 1 lemon 1 tspn ground cinnamon 1 tspn Jamaica pepper 3 tbspn butter
Preparation Start with the pie crust; mix the flour and salt. Add the butter cut in small cubes and the 80 ml of water. Knead well with your hands. Make two equal balls and refrigerate for 30 min.
Squeeze the lemon, in another bowl mix the flour, white and brown sugar, cinnamon, pepper, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and the egg. Mix well until it forms a caramel colored cream.
Peel the apples and cut in half, take the core and seeds out and cut in even slices. Add to the above batter and mix.
Roll out the dough to form a circle. Cover a high sided pie mold with butter. Cover the bottom of the mold with one of the balls.
Fill the pan with the apple mix. Spread small pieces of butter. Cover with the second ball of dough and join the tips of the crust leaving the top and bottom well sealed.
Place the pie in the oven for at least 1 hour at 220C.
